To cancel your Geek Squad Protection Plan, you will need to gather your original receipt(s) and contract documents. If you have separate receipts for the item and the GSP Plan, be sure to collect both before making your call. During your call, you may be asked to provide specific information such as plan number, item number, store number, and purchase date.
If you don't have your original receipts but have the foresight to either photocopy/scan them or take note of important information such as item number, GSP number, purchase date, and store number, then cancelling by phone might be your best option.
To cancel your plan by phone, call 1-800-433-5778 (1-800-GEEK SQUAD) and follow the voice prompts, stating "protection plan" and "cancel my plan". If you're calling from the phone number they have on file, the automated system will guide you through the process of cancelling your plan without requiring support staff assistance.
When you speak to a staff member, inform them that you want to cancel your Geek Squad Protection Plan and provide the required information about your GSP Plan. If they try to talk you out of cancelling, remember that they are simply doing their job. If necessary, calmly refer to the relevant section of your contract that outlines your right to cancel at any time for any reason.
If you're owed a pro-rated refund, ask the staff member to calculate the amount for you. The exact method for determining the pro-rated refund and cancellation date will depend on whether you paid in full or monthly.
For plans that have been fully paid, you'll receive a pro-rated refund for the remaining time on the GSP Plan, minus the amount for any services that have already been rendered. If you've had repairs done, the cost of those repairs will be deducted from your refund.
Monthly plans are paid in advance for each month of coverage. Unless you're at the end of a payment cycle, your coverage will continue until the next cycle ends before the plan is cancelled.
Before ending the call, confirm that your plan has been cancelled and ask for the staff member's name as well as a confirmation number or email to serve as proof of cancellation. Be sure to mark down the date and time of your call and keep this evidence until you're certain that the cancellation has been successfully processed.
It may take up to 60 days for refunds to be processed and appear on your credit card. If your card is charged the following month or you don't see a refund in 60 days, call back and provide the confirmation details as needed to demonstrate that you had previously cancelled your plan.
