Who will be the 2023 Oscars host?

We had a perfect hosting trifecta last year with Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes. This year, however, the Academy Awards are reverting back to a tried-and-true formula: Jimmy Kimmel as host. The late night host is in charge for the third time, having previously hosted in 2017 and 2018.

"I have a good idea of what needs to be done," I said. Kimmel told ABC, "Really, all you gotta do is be funny at the beginning, and funny all the way through, and then apologize over and over again for how long the show was."

 

Fans of Jennifer Coolidge were probably hoping she'd be asked to host, but oh well — maybe next time!

Who will be performing at the Oscars in 2023?

After her historic Super Bowl performance/pregnancy reveal, Rihanna will be performing the Oscar-nominated song "Lift Me Up" from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack on March 12 at the Academy Awards. It will be her first time performing at the Oscars.

The Oscar-nominated "Naatu Naatu" by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will also be performed. Additionally, David Burne, Son Lux, Sofia Carson, and Diane Warren will join Stephanie Hsu to perform "This Is a Life" from the Everything Everywhere All At Once soundtrack.

In addition to Lady Gaga and BloodPop performing "Hold My Hand" in honor of Top Gun: Maverick's nomination, Sofia Carson and Diane Warren are set to perform "Applause" from Tell It Like a Woman.

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once is everyone's favorite film leading up to the Oscars on March 12. The film starring Michelle Yeoh is riding high after winning SAG and Critics' Choice awards, and it is also favored to do well with its 11 nominations. Award winners include Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Stephanie Hsu for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, and Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress.

With nine nods, The Banshees of Inisherin isn't far behind. The German version of All Quiet on the Western Front, which was also nominated for nine awards, came as something of a surprise.
