1. Launch a blog
Starting a blog is a fantastic way for Canadian stay-at-home mothers to earn additional income.
It's incredibly easy to start a blog, and there are very few upfront costs. I mean extremely little
It's up to you what you blog about, but here are a few pointers
- Make an effort to create evergreen content. Create content that will be relevant for a very long time, in other words. Making sure your content is still relevant by the time you start receiving organic traffic is important because new websites take a while to rank in Google.
- Find out about SEO Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the process of writing content in a way that will appear in search engines like Google and Bing. Although you can drive traffic to your own social media channels, the best way to scale your content and attract thousands of readers per month is by writing SEO-friendly articles.
The exciting part will come when you can monetize your content after you create it and begin driving traffic to your blogs.

The Ezoic ad network is my personal favorite method for making money from blogs. In fact, Ezoic is serving the ads you see on the screen right now, which greatly increase the value of running a blog. They set everything up for me and send me a check each month for doing nothing more than creating new content.

2. Create a Shopify dropshipping website.
In Canada, starting a dropshipping website on Shopify is a great way for stay-at-home mothers to supplement their income.
If you are If dropshipping is unfamiliar to you, it is simply the process of setting up an online store with Shopify and then selling products there.
However, the truth is that with dropshipping, you never actually own any of the physical goods, and you never have to worry about inventory, returns, shipping, logistics, or any of that yucky stuff.
You only have to worry about selling your goods and getting customers. With the help of Shopify and Oberlo, everything else is essentially done for you.
Dropshipping may be a great option for you since you don't want your home to be overrun with inventory and you may not have the money to buy products in advance.
If you wanted to sell coffee mugs, for example, you would add the mugs to your Shopify store (using Oberlo) after purchasing them from Aliexpress. The mug will cost you $3, but you'll charge $20 on your website.
When someone buys that mug, you'll purchase it for $3 (from Aliexpress), have it delivered to the customer's home, and make $17.
I'd recommend Shopify as your website platform and Oberlo as the dropshipping app you'll install in your store if you do decide to launch a dropshipping website because apps like Oberlo make this process SO easy.
A website called Go Fisherman Beanies is a real-world illustration of this; as you can see on their website, they sell their fisherman-style beanies for anywhere between $27 and . 99 to $34 99
How much are they? Check out the prices on Ali Express; they range from $2 to . Therefore, calculate that. These people earn between $22 and $30 per order. Not bad
I'll provide a video below from Oberlo that discusses dropshipping in more detail.
3. Complete online polls
Online surveys are a second EASY way for Canadian stay-at-home mothers to earn money.
You did read that correctly, Companies are willing to pay for feedback, and they contract with paid survey sites to handle their feedback requests.
It works fairly simply; first, you create an account with a website that pays users to complete surveys, such as Swagbucks, Survey Junkie Canada, or Daily Rewards Canada.
From there, you can get paid to complete surveys, recommend friends, watch videos, or play games in addition to other activities. Typically, these businesses will pay you via PayPal.
What a crazy idea, right
Although taking online surveys can be a great option, I'll be honest and say that the pay isn't great. However, every little bit helps, so don't give up.
Therefore, even though you might not become wealthy by taking online surveys, getting started is very easy and there is essentially no barrier to entry.
4. Market used items on online marketplaces
Selling used items from around the house on classified websites like Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace is another fantastic way to earn money as a stay-at-home mom.
It doesn't really matter what it is—old baby clothes, toys, or random items you have lying around, such as broken furniture, outdated gaming consoles, and unused kitchen appliances—one person's trash is another person's treasure.
Spend a few days gathering all the items you no longer need in your home, then list them on online classified websites.
How quickly you can sell your items will surprise you. While I can't guarantee it, I'm willing to bet that doing this will enable you to earn more than $1,000 in a single month.
We all, including myself, have a ton of outdated items lying around the house that we never use or need, so why not use them and turn a profit?
Simple Advice for Selling Items on Second-Hand Sites
- Take quality photos (the iPhone camera is excellent).
- Make the product description as good as you can.
5. Make Investments
Investing your money is another way for a stay-at-home mom to earn money.
Now, I'm not saying you should start day trading or anything, but rather, just begin managing your money and beginning to plan for the future.
Do you already have an RRSP set up? Consider a TFSA. How about an RESP for the education of your child?
I would advise beginning with an RRSP if you provided a negative response to any or all of these questions.
An RRSP, as the name suggests, is a particular category of investment account that is authorized by the Canadian government. It enables tax-free investment growth, and your contributions are tax deductible.
Therefore, you should set up an RRSP right away if you don't already have one.
For these reasons, I chose Wealthsimple to set up my RRSP, and I haven't looked back since.

6. Work as a Freelancer
In Canada, a lot of stay-at-home mothers lack the time to commit to a full-time job, but they still possess highly marketable skills that they can offer as freelancers.
Typical Forms of Freelance Work:
These are just a few examples; even if you don't possess any of the listed abilities, I'm almost positive you possess one that can be used to earn money.
But where can you find individuals looking for this kind of work?
Websites like Fiverr and Freelancer are examples of popular freelance marketplaces.
Being a freelancer has many benefits, including the fact that there is no 9–5 aspect to the job, which is perfect for stay-at-home moms.
You are given work to complete and a deadline; it is not important when you complete this work (morning, noon, or night). You just need to complete it.
7. Produce instructional videos and upload them to Youtube
As a stay-at-home mother in Canada, creating how-to videos for YouTube can be a fun way to earn extra money.
This method of earning money will take some time, just like starting a blog. Although it won't happen immediately, the journey can be very rewarding.
I recommend creating "how-to" videos because, when starting out, I think that this is the best way to begin gaining views for your video.
Now, I'm by no means an expert on YouTube, so I'll try not to go too far here, but if you start out by making videos that are only for entertainment, it's unlikely that anyone will watch them.
However, if you create a video with the title "how to feed a new-born safely," this is a video that may actually be searched for and your result will appear.
You can experiment with more purely entertaining videos, like "Watch how my baby does this," as your YouTube audience expands and you begin to generate more views and subscribers. ", but to begin with, I would advise sticking with "how-to" videos.
And while I'm only using examples of babies as video topics here, your channel can obviously be about anything you want it to be.
There are many ways to monetize a YouTube channel, including sponsored posts and affiliate marketing in addition to the obvious option of running ads.
I'll provide a link to an article that describes (in detail) how to monetize YouTube without having a sizable audience.
8. Online teacher
Online tutoring is another means of income for Canadian stay-at-home mothers.
Put your brain to work and become an online tutor if you excel in certain subjects like math or English.
With no need to spend eight hours a day at a desk, online tutors can earn a great living.
Preply and Club Z are two popular websites where you can advertise your tutoring services.
Additionally, online marketplaces for freelance work, such as Fiverr, are fantastic venues to advertise tutoring services.
Additionally, I advise using referrals and social media marketing to try and find clients on your own In this manner, you can eliminate the middleman and keep all of the money earned.
Use Zoom as your video communication tool, according to Quick Tip #1. The software is dependable, has screen sharing features, and the basic version is free.
9. Find a Temporary Remote Job
Another fantastic way to earn money in Canada as a stay-at-home mom is to find a part-time job that you can do from home.
Due to the growing popularity of remote work, there are benefits to living in the wonderful country of Canada.
Naturally, you need flexible hours, so I wouldn't suggest a job like a customer service representative where you'd have to "work the phones" for a set amount of time.
As awful as it may sound, you need to find something you can cancel last-minutely in case you have to take care of a baby.
This could involve performing administrative duties at a local university or perhaps working in a business development capacity for a nearby tech company.
I'd advise visiting well-known job boards like Indeed and Job Bank and selecting "remote" and "part time" as your filter options.
Send out some applications once you've located a few open positions that fit your flexible needs and watch what happens.
Being employed has many advantages over working as a freelancer, including a consistent paycheck every two weeks. In other words, once you complete a job, you won't need to actively seek out new employment.
10. Manage Small Business Social Media Channels
Are you adept at using social media by nature? If so, put these abilities to use and launch a small side business doing social media marketing.
You'd be surprised at how many local small businesses still don't use social media to advertise their brands.
Here's what you need to do: list at least 50 local small businesses.
Now compile a list of all of these companies' inactive social media accounts in a spreadsheet.
Include them on the list as well if they have channels but don't regularly post there.
Now, locate all of these companies' contact details and begin contacting them.
You should prepare a little bit in advance for your outreach efforts, and I suggest having a brief "elevator pitch" prepared.
Certainly easier said than done, but don't let rejection scare you What do you have to lose if you call a business owner and they decline, which will happen? You will then be in the same situation as before.
With that said, you might be able to find three to four companies willing to outsource their social media to you from your initial list of 50.
Depending on the services you offer to them, you can charge anything between $200 and $400 per month.
And voila You run a charming little side business.
12. Purchase and Market Instagram Pages
This is currently one of my favorite methods for earning money online. If you've read any of my previous blog posts on earning money, you've likely already read about this strategy.
Basically, all you have to do is search on Instagram for accounts with over 10,000 followers but no recent posts.
It's very likely the account owner is no longer interested in maintaining it if they haven't posted in more than a month. So you send them a direct message and inquire about their interest in selling the account.
Find at least ten accounts similar to this one, and then ask each of them. This is a numbers game. You might encounter two or three individuals who are genuinely interested in purchasing.
When you locate a vendor, you pay for the account using PayPal. An Instagram account typically costs $10 per 1000 followers, but since the owner no longer wants the account, you might be able to find one for less money.
Get an account for between and per 1,000 followers.
Then, over the next four to five weeks, you post two to three times per week to re-engage your followers.
Once the account is active and alive once more and the followers are re-engaged, you turn around and sell it for a profit.
Then repeat after that Since this isn't really a scalable business model, you won't become rich doing this, but you can earn thousands of dollars in a short amount of time. I know because I've done it.
Quick Tip #2: If you want to sell your account, post in the account's story feature, "Selling account, DM for details," and you'll receive a ton of interested buyers in your inbox.

12. Rent a Vehicle
As a stay-at-home mother, have you ever considered renting out your vehicle?
This won't work for you if you're like some mothers because you'll need and want access to a car around-the-clock. However, if you are not in this circumstance, think about renting out your car to earn a little extra money.
In Canada, there is a car rental company called Turo. The biggest car sharing service in the world right now is called Turo.
In essence, Turo is very similar to Airbnb in that you list your car on their marketplace and they locate a renter for it; you are then, of course, paid for this rental.
Go to turo.com and select "list your car" as shown in the image below to register your vehicle.
Making a listing is completely free, and you control the pricing just like with Airbnb. Payments are made through PayPal, and you contribute 70% of the rental price.
If you don't need your car all the time and are a stay-at-home mom in Canada, I'd highly recommend you take this opportunity into account.
PS I've personally rented through Turo in the past, and it was a great experience.
Flip Products on Online Marketplaces 13.
In an earlier section of this article, we discussed using websites like Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace to sell your used items. Although this is a fantastic way to earn some extra cash, there is a limit because everyone only has so much stuff.
Therefore, if you've already sold all of your unwanted items, think about "flipping" other people's belongings.
Search these online stores for some really good deals, purchase whatever you find, and then sell it for a profit on another website.
When I was a student, I utilized iPhones to carry out this activity. I would purchase one for between -$100 on Kijiji and then immediately sell it for between $140-$180 on Facebook Marketplace.
Actually, I kind of enjoy it. Set a financial target for yourself and work toward achieving it each month.
Increasing your objective each month
14. Establish a laundry service in your home.
Why not establish a small at-home laundry service?
The amount of money you can make doing other people's laundry would actually surprise you.
Doing laundry for others, whether it be for friends, family, or total strangers, can be a great way to earn extra money as a stay-at-home mom.
making money as a student-athleteAs I discuss in my article on how to earn money as a student-athlete, I am aware of two individuals who did this and succeeded in earning a sizable sum of money.
Do the math on it, please. Imagine if you could charge ten people $40 per week to do their laundry. That is $400 weekly and almost $2,000 monthly.
And let's face it, while doing laundry takes some time, it isn't demanding work. Put your favorite Netflix show on and start doing your laundry.
15. Become an influencer on Instagram
Instagram is a fascinating additional source of income for Canadian stay-at-home mothers.
First, a quick reminder: With over 500 million daily active users, Instagram is arguably the most popular social media platform in the world right now.
Many modern stay-at-home mothers embrace this way of life and post about it on Instagram.
Take a look at Ginger Parrish's Instagram page, for instance, by clicking here. She has close to 250,000 followers, and judging by some of her posts, she likely makes money through affiliate marketing by promoting products.
Influencers attract a ton of followers by producing excellent content. Once you have an audience, you can earn money from their attention once you have followers.

16. Create a podcast about staying at home with the kids.
People want to be able to consume content passively, so podcasts are growing in popularity lately.
Do you possess the "gift of gab" then? ”
If so, you might want to start a podcast about the life of a stay-at-home mother. Invite other stay-at-home mothers, and share your experiences with them.
In addition to giving you an endless supply of content, this will also create a very monetizable audience.
And, believe it or not, you don't actually need that many listeners for a podcast to be profitable.
In fact, you only need between 300 and 5000 listeners per episode, as I mention in my article on how to make money online as a beginner (The Podcast Host).
The point is that you don't have to launch the next Joe Rogan podcast to make money; generating this level of audience will still take time.
A small but devoted and interested audience will suffice.
17. Place Ads on Your Vehicle
Placing advertisements on her car is another, very passive way for a stay-at-home mom to earn extra money.
While there are a few different ways to accomplish this, joining a marketplace like Carvertise is the simplest. This way, all you have to do (once you're accepted) is sign up to be a driver, and they'll take care of the rest.
As you can see from the website screenshot below, Cavertise, once you submit an application and are accepted, your job is essentially done.
Second quick note: Wrapping your car is the correct term for placing advertisements on it.
Although it's a strange idea, there is a market for it. According to Carvertise's website, its drivers make about $300 per month.
And what's great about this approach is that, after initial setup, you really don't have to do much.
Simply drive for a living
18. Use social media to advertise your "Odd Job Services"
And finally, offering odd jobs on social media is a fantastic way for Canadian stay-at-home mothers to earn extra money.
Of course, the job will need to be flexible around your responsibilities as a mother, but you'll be surprised at what you can find.
Additionally, since they are likely already aware that you are a stay-at-home parent, your social media friends and followers will only offer you work that fits into your schedule.
Someone might need a few errands run for them during the day, their dog walked every day, or meal preparation for a family might be required. Whatever it is, until you let people know that you're willing to perform odd jobs for money, you won't know.
Get your message out there, whether it be through a Facebook post or an Instagram story, and start earning some extra money.
Here are the 18 ways a stay-at-home mother can earn money in Canada.
I hope some (or at least one) of these concepts strike a chord with you, but even more so, I hope you choose to proceed and put one of these money-making strategies into practice.
