Installing a multitude of applications onto your device can be a tedious task. But, have you ever considered using a website as an application instead? While many applications provide additional features and abilities, simple website versions can offer basic features and your favorite webpages can easily be added to the home screen.

For example, do you only need to check your PayPal balance or watch a quick YouTube video? In these cases, there is no need to install the full applications and all their abundant features and addons. You can add website shortcuts as a quick and easy alternative.

Add a Website Shortcut to Your iPhone or iPad Home Screen

First, navigate to Safari and open a website you would like to add to your home screen. Then, select the share icon at the bottom of the screen and choose Add to Home Screen.

You will be prompted to name your new shortcut before you tap the Add button. You will then see the website icon displayed on your home screen, appearing similar to an application, and when tapped, it will open to that webpage in Safari.

This same process can be applied to the iPad, where the share button is located on the upper-right side of the toolbar near the address bar.

Add any webpage that you prefer, and when tapped, it will directly open to that webpage in Safari. In some cases, the website's icon may even appear similar to the associated application icon, fooling many into thinking it is the real application.
