Resolve Weak Signal, Poor Reception, and Connection Problems with These Expert Troubleshooting Methods

Please take note, in case your phone isn't receiving any signal at all, kindly follow these steps and troubleshooting tips for no-service issues.

Are you experiencing a poor signal or bad reception on your phone? Take these steps to attempt resolving the issue.

Step 1: Confirm Your Coverage

Check the network coverage map to clarify the mobile coverage in your area. Reconfirm the coverage even if you previously experienced a strong signal.

Step 2: Verify Signal Issues

If you have network issues at only one location, feel free to ignore this step.

If you encounter a weak signal on your phone in multiple locations, it could suggest phone-related issues. Use these simple steps:

Try switching off your phone and wait for 30 seconds before turning it back on. It might help to resolve the issue.

Reset Network Settings

Note: A Network Settings Reset will delete saved WiFi and Bluetooth settings. Ensure you reconnect to the WiFi after doing a reset.

Apple iPhone: Select Settings, select General, select Reset, and then Reset Network Settings. The phone will switch off and back on. Once it's back on, verify service availability.

Android: (Note: Every Android is slightly different, but most will follow this basic formula. There are also some Android phones that don’t undergo this step; continue to the following step.)

Select Settings, select General Management (Also called System, depending on the software version), select Reset, then select Reset Network Settings.

Step 3: Verify Signal Connectivity

If the problem is only within a structure, your cellular service could be hindered by concrete, metal, or several walls. If you move outside and the service is much better, this may be the case.

Step 4: Attempt Another Network Option on Your Smartphone

Apple iPhone:

Select Settings, select Cellular, select Cellular Data Options, under Enable LTE or Voice and Data, select Off or 2G/3G.

Select Settings, select Connections (sometimes called Network and Internet on different software versions), select Mobile Networks (you may need to click More first), select Network Mode, then select GSM Only.

Step 5: Record Examples

If signal issues resurface after following the above steps and confirming your proximity to the coverage area, please note at least 2–3 recent examples (within the past 5 days) such as dropped calls, a text message that didn't go through, or issues with data.

Please take note of the date, time, and phone number associated with your poor signal experience, as well as any error messages you may have encountered. Once you have identified two recent instances, you can move on to the next step.
