This letter urges you to register online if you are a Canadian citizen and 18 years or older. The National Register of Electors is a constantly updated database composed of all Canadians who are qualified to vote in federal elections and referendums. Your information is stored, including your name, address, gender, date of birth and a unique identifier. The register is used to establish lists of electors for voting purposes. If you are already registered, there is no need to re-register for each election. By checking the Elections Canada section on your tax return or using Elections Canada's Online Voter Registration Service, you can update your address. By sharing voter information with provinces and territories, Elections Canada helps create more accurate lists of electors, reduce duplication, and save taxpayer money. Registering to vote will provide you with a personalized voter information card in the next election. This card will inform you about where, when and how to vote.
