Experience the Convenience of Hello PRESTO E-Tickets with Ease
In order to ride public transit, don’t forget to activate your E-Ticket beforehand. Before boarding, simply launch the PRESTO E-Tickets App, choose the E-Ticket you wish to use, and tap the “Activate” button. The ticket will then become active instantly. Once aboard, make sure to scan the ticket’s QR code on a PRESTO device using a barcode reader.
Keep in mind that your E-Ticket is only valid if it’s activated using your smartphone and scanned by a PRESTO device’s barcode reader during travel.
Also, remember that if your phone dies or malfunctions during transit, you’ll need to pay using alternate methods, such as cash, a ticket machine, or a PRESTO card. Non-activated E-Tickets remain in your possession, but if you activated one and your device stopped working, that specific E-Ticket will no longer be valid after the travel window closes.
Ways to Store Your E-Ticket
There are two methods to save your E-Tickets.
Saving on Your Device: When you purchase an E-Ticket, it automatically saves to your device. This way, you can access and activate your E-Ticket without an internet connection.
Saving in the Cloud: After obtaining an E-Ticket, open the Settings panel of the PRESTO E-Tickets App, choose “E-Ticket Storage,” and select the cloud option. Saving your E-Tickets in the cloud means they’ll only be available when you’re online, but you can retrieve them from any smartphone equipped with the PRESTO E-Tickets App. For optimal results, it’s advisable to save your E-Tickets in the cloud when you are using a different device from the one you previously utilized.
PRESTO E-Tickets Extended Validity Periods
Each transit agency has a distinct expiration period for unactivated E-Tickets, which will stay in your account until activated or until they expire. They are as follows:
- Durham Region Transit (DRT) - 365 days
- Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) - No expiration date
- Oakville Transit - No expiration date
- Monthly passes are date-specific and will expire on the last day of the month, regardless of activation.
- All PRESTO E-Tickets and passes are non-refundable.
PRESTO E-Tickets Transferability Between Transit Agencies
- When utilizing a PRESTO E-Ticket to move between transit systems that do not use PRESTO E-Tickets, request a paper transfer from the bus driver.
If transferring to another bus within the same transit agency, make sure to scan your E-Ticket’s QR code on the PRESTO device on the bus at the time of transfer. You won’t be able to view your transfers when you check your history on the PRESTO E-Tickets app.
How to deactivate your PRESTO E-Ticket account
To delete your PRESTO E-Tickets account, you must first sign in through the PRESTO E-Tickets Web Portal. Once you’ve logged in, go to the settings menu, select “Your Profile,” and click “Deactivate My Account.” Hit “Deactivate” to confirm.
Please note: if you choose to deactivate your PRESTO E-Ticket account, any unused tickets in your account will be forfeited. You will need to create a new account if you want to purchase a PRESTO E-Ticket again in the future.
