Box Up On Sides

With a miter saw or a table saw, create a six-inch board with 45-degree angles on each end. Let the piece serve as a benchmark for marking the subsequent cut. Cut another six-inch board mirroring the first one's dimensions and angle.

Nothing's Built Yet!

For the box's front and back, measure two boards, nine inches each, and give them 45-degree angles on each end using a miter saw or table saw. Use the front board to mark the back board.

It's Coming Together!

Position the front board down with the downward-facing 45-degree angles. Attach the left-side board to the front board's edge, then fasten the back board to the relevant edge of the left-side board. Bind the three boards using two instances of clear packing tape. Make the box assembly groove side topmost, fit it on top of the bottom board's groove (see photo). Repeat the same process for the right side, fit it to the front, back, and bottom.

The Final Stretch!

Remove the box assembly from the bottom. Take out the tape and right side, leaving the front, back, and left side taped together. Glue each of the 45-degree angles and the groove on the bottom board with wood glue.

Reinsert the box assembly onto the bottom board's groove with a firm hand. Affix it securely with a trusty clamp.

Spread wood glue on the winged tips of the right-hand panel and snuggly place it inside the box assembly. Attach it with clear tape and also fix it with clamps. (Observe provided photos)

Clear out any surplus glue scattered on the inside and outside of the box with a damp cloth.

Tear apart two 2-inch by 16-inch pieces of 1/4 inch plywood or hardwood.

Carve out a 1/8-inch, 1/4-inch wide groove on one long side of each board using the table saw.

Chop two 7-3/4-inch fragments for the tray's frontal and rear guards.

Slice two sides at 4-5/8 inches and one partition at 1-3/4 inches multiplied by 4-5/8 inches.

Log one 1/4 inch plywood at 4-5/8 x 7.5 inches for the lower part.

Insert the sides into the groove located on each end of the front and back pieces.

Securely fasten the box together by tightly wrapping clear plastic tape around it.

After flipping the box over, apply wood glue to the inner edges.

Insert the bottom piece into the groove and use a clamp to secure it while the glue dries.

Tray Supports

Create two 1/4-inch tray supports that are 1-3/4 inches by 5 inches in size.

Glue these supports to the inner sides of the jewelry box, with them being completely aligned with the bottom surface. (Refer to the photo.)

Final Flourishes

Allow ample time for the glue to dry. Utilizing a 150-220 grit sandpaper, use an orbital sander to smooth out all parts of the box.

Finish the box using wipe-on polyurethane.

To prevent scratching on any surface, attach stick-on felt feet to the bottom of the box for a touch of elegance. Additionally, uncover the measures to construct a basic wooden box.
