Canadian Postal Address Format for Writing Letters and Envelopes

- Addresses in other countries should follow the same format as US addresses. ZIP codes can be replaced with postal codes, provinces and territories can stand in for states, and city names can be renamed as municipalities.
- No abbreviations should be used for country names. Always use complete sentences and proper spelling. Not acceptable are abbreviations like IN for India, UK for the United Kingdom, or UAE for the United Arab Emirates.
Both street addresses and PO boxes follow the same pattern. Simply switch out the street name for the address's ZIP code.
